自20世纪70年代末引入系统功能语言学以来，我国功能语言学界对该理论进行了各方面的探讨，著述频出，但鲜有从同一理论视角同时对英、汉两种语言进行系统性研究的书籍。本套丛书每个主题都有两个分册，分别对英、汉语言进行描述，希望既有益于英语学界读者，又有益于汉语学界读者，也有益于从事两种语言对比研究的学者。 《英译汉翻译研究功能途径》与《汉译英翻译研究功能途径》是姊妹篇，主要探讨系统功能语言学理论在翻译研究中的适用性及其在翻译实践中的指导意义。 本书包含七章，在阐释、析理的基础上比较全面地把系统功能语言学的方方面面与翻译研究结合起来，论述了基于系统功能语言学理论的翻译研究范式的可操作性和广泛的应用前景。同时，系统功能语言学理论在翻译研究中的适用性必须经过翻译实践的检验，因此，在每章的理论介绍和探讨中，我们都结合了大量生动、具体的英译汉案例进行详细分析，也在每章后面设计了一些针对性练习，供学习者揣摩和锻炼，以进一步巩固与提高。 本书具有学术性、知识性和应用性，可以作为我国外国语言文学、翻译研究等学科（专业）研究生从系统功能语言学视角研究翻译问题的入门读本。
